OUR MAN ROLAND 500 PRINTING PRESS IS 100% ALCOHOL FREE. ANOTHER WAY TO REDUCE VOC EMISSIONS.
The Printroom UK – the technical bit
The printing press: We are proud to have invested in a Man Roland 500, installed in April 2007. We chose this press for several reasons:
- Alcohol-free dampening and vegetable oil-based inks – very few presses run this environmentally cleaner combination. We use a water-based sealer to speed the drying process.
- sharp, clean printing (less ‘dot gain’)
- less paper waste – can make ready in far fewer sheets
- can print on board up to 1mm thick – very few presses can handle such thick substrate
- ColorPilot system that allows us to quickly monitor and adjust colour during the printing process
The Press was one of the first of it’s kind in the country, also one of the very few in the North West of England that runs 100% alcohol free. With an added water filtration system on it, we can save 3300 litres of water p.a. on the press alone.
